BEST 2026 returns to Lisbon to explore the future of metabolic surgery, bringing together global leaders in a unique scientific meeting dedicated to innovation, technique and multidisciplinary learning. After the remarkable success of the 2010 and 2017 Lisbon editions—both milestones in the internationalisation of the BEST series—the 2026 meeting embraces the theme “Helping From a Distance – The Future of Metabolic Surgery”.
This edition focuses on three core pillars shaping contemporary practice: ileal metabolic procedures, robotic and AI-assisted surgery, and remote surgical collaboration. Across two full days, participants will engage in live and almost-live surgery, expert lectures, Barialink Grand Rounds, and extended discussion sessions designed to promote critical thinking and practical insight.
Hosted at CUF Tejo Hospital, BEST 2026 offers a dynamic environment where innovation meets experience, and where surgeons, endoscopists, trainees and researchers come together to share advances that are redefining metabolic surgery worldwide.
Join us in Lisbon for an intensive, forward-looking programme that reflects the evolution of the field—from technique to technology, from local expertise to global collaboration.
