BEST 2026 is back in Lisbon to explore the future of metabolic surgery, bringing together leading experts from around the world for a truly unique scientific meeting focused on innovation, technique and multidisciplinary collaboration. Building on the success of the 2010 and 2017 editions, both key moments in the international growth of the BEST series, the 2026 edition introduces the theme “Helping From a Distance - The Future of Metabolic Surgery”.
This year’s programme is centred on three major pillars shaping modern practice: ileal metabolic procedures, robotic and AI-assisted surgery, and remote surgical collaboration. Over two intensive days, participants will experience live and almost-live surgeries, expert-led sessions, Barialink Grand Rounds, and in-depth discussions designed to encourage critical thinking and practical application.
Hosted at CUF Tejo Hospital, BEST 2026 creates a dynamic space where innovation meets experience. Surgeons, endoscopists, trainees and researchers will come together to exchange knowledge, share breakthroughs and contribute to the ongoing transformation of metabolic surgery worldwide.
Join us in Lisbon for a forward-thinking programme that reflects the evolution of the field, from technique to technology, and from local expertise to global collaboration.
